Akenakute mo ii desu is not a broken sentence — it says “you don’t have to open it,” which leaves your friend free to open it anyway. The grammar is fine; the cat still gets out.
This is why the axis is not politeness. If you remember today as “-nai de kudasai is harsh, so soften it to -nakute mo ii desu,” you will pick B here and lose the cat. Q1 lifted an obligation. Q2 forbids an action. The two questions point in opposite directions on purpose.
